I spoke with SSPD Chief Sanders and City Manager Marc Maxwell about the gas shortage rumors. They both urged the public not to panic. “The Texas Railroad Commission advises that there is no fuel shortage. Please don’t panic.” said, Chief Sanders. Maxwell expressed the same caution. “I just spoke with Buck Booker(Owner of Super Handy stores). He said that there is some shortage but not anything like what people fear. It is the overreaction that is compounding the problem. He also said that if everyone would just buy what they would normally buy everything would be okay, that there wouldn’t be any shortage at all.” said Maxwell. He went even further reaffirming his belief that there is no reason to panic, “I have to go out of town this afternoon, and I am not changing my plans as a result of any fears of a gas shortage. I’m confident I will be able to fill up tomorrow.”
