Funeral service for Amanda Meeks, age 84, of Como, Texaswill be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Diamond officiating and Judge B.J. Teer assisting.  Interment will follow at Greenpond Cemetery with Kevin Frost, Don Meeks, Gordan Jordan, Daniel Seymore and Ronny Gunn serving as pallbearers and Bobby George, Richard Teer, Troy Simmons, Frankie Coker, Jeremy Cook, Jerry Cook and Roy Darby serving as honorary pallbearers.  Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel.   Our sweet mother, Amanda Faye, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Carriage House Manor in Sulphur Springs

Amanda Faye Barbour was born on January 31st 1933 in Wirt, near Healdton, Oklahoma, the daughter of John Oren Barbour and Myrtle Lee McFarland Barbour. She had 8 siblings; Peggy, Katherine, Barbara, Richard, Ray, Robert Joan and Linda. Linda Survives. 4 half siblings; Addie, Ethline, Hattie and Alice. She married Dwayne Seymore in 1949 and had 4 children, Diane, Dale, Druscilla and April. In 1968, she married Carrol D. Meeks and had 2 children Carrol and Darrell. She worked many years at H.D. Lee’s in Sulphur Springs, TX and then as a Nurse at local nursing care facilities until her retirement. She was member of Harmony Baptist Church, Pickton, Texas.  She had a deep and abiding faith, unshakeable from any hardship she faced in her life and was always quick, with a bible verse for encouragement and guidance. She was a servant of the Lord in the truest sense all the days of her life.We ask you to join us in celebrating her life and her unfailing faith and to feel joy in her homecoming.

She is survived by her husband, Carrol Dwayne Meeks of Como;six children, Diane Lightsinger of Georgia, Dale Seymore ofRoulettTX, Druscilla Holley of Yantis TX, April Howard of Yantis TX., Carrol Meeks and Darrell Meeks, both of Como TX; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren and great great Grandchildren.
