Funeral services with military honors for Roy Burk, age 75, of Yantis will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Frazier officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Burk passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Heritage Healthcare and Rehab, Quitman.
Roy Don Burk was born on September 6, 1941 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Roy Thomas Burk and Syble Estelle Blalock. He married Janice Ann Blunt on October 17, 1977 in Dallas, Texas. Roy proudly served in the Navy and was a member of Country Baptist Church, Point, TX. He retired from Road and Bridge Construction, Wood County, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Janice “Nanny” Burk; daughters, Mary Elizabeth Burk of Mt. Vernon, Tina McPherson and husband Charlie of South Carolina; son, Ronnie Burk and wife, Melanie of Dallas; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; sister, Mary Frances Farrell and husband Jerry of Catula, Texas; brothers, Bo Burk and wife Jackie of Henderson, Texas, Sandy Gene Burk of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Michael Burk and wife, Jerrie of Montana.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; son, Roy Don Burk, Jr.; daughter, Andrea Burk.
Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
