Funeral services for Esma E. Therwhanger, age 96, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. C. J. Duffy and Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Rockdale Cemetery with nephews and friends serving as pallbearers.  There will be no formal visitation.  Mrs. Therwhanger passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Carriage House Manor.  Mrs. Therwhanger was born on February 24, 1921 in Knox City, TX, the daughter of Calvin Brothers and Willie Mae Qualls Brothers.   She married Truman Therwhanger on October 22, 1947 in Lovington, NM.  He survives.  Mrs. Therwhanger worked as a riveter in an aircraft factory during WWII.  She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church.  In addition to her husband she is survived by sons, Dwight Therwhanger and Phillip Therwhanger and wife Sherry of Sulphur Springs, grandson, David Therwhanger and wife Janlyn of Quitman, granddaughter-in-law, Beatrice Therwhanger of San Antonio, great-grandchildren, Abbi, Alexis, Drew and Brandon Therwhanger.  She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, and grandson, Marty Therwhanger.  Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home. www.westoaksfuneralhome.com
