Teen Court of Hopkins County Report

Teen Court of Hopkins County gathered on Tuesday, January 10, at the Hopkins County Courthouse. Special thanks go to Coffee Off The Square for hosting our meal of pizzas donated by Pizza Inn, Little Caesars and Pizza Hut; Sharon Griggs, Price Griggs and Vicki Miller for picking up the pizzas; for courthouse security provided by Bailiff Captain Henry Turner and Deputy Kevin Lester and to Judge Brad Cummings and Judge BJ Teer for their continued support. This court date, Judge Rachel Flatt and master jury Judge Colin Miller along with several Merit Club members assessed 108 community services hours, 3 apology letters and 9 jury terms. . Teen Court of Hopkins County is an alternative sentencing process for local teens to take care of Class C misdemeanor tickets. It is also a scholarship program for the teen Merit Club members who staff the court. It was started by the 1995-96 Adult Leadership Class in Sulphur Springs as a class project. Teen Court is supported and funded by the United Way, private and business donations.
