Zumba Fitness Class Opens
With Success on Thursday Night
by: Bobby McDonald
It was loads of smiles, plenty of promises to come back to class, and just a "tad bit of sweat," as over 85 women, ranging in ages from 18 to over 70 years old, gathered at First United Methodist Church for a new Zumba fitness class. The class is lead by Julie Barrows and is to encourage local residents to enjoy becoming more physically fit as they have a good time. "I'm astounded at the success of the first class on Thursday night!" exclaimed Barrows. "It's just what I had hoped for, with people of all ages, ethnic groups, and walks of life, coming together for a common goal of becoming more active and physically fit, but having fun doing it!"
"It sounded like a fun way to get some much needed exercise," allowed one of the women, enrolled in Thursday night's first class. "I think we all need the exercise and what better encouragement than with friends, lively music, and a chance to get out and enjoy yourself!"

"None of us like to exercise alone!" continued Barrows. "And, I think the Zumba method, of unusual moves, up-beat music, and having a good time is the ideal way to become physically fit! We had participants from every level of fitness, working to the music and having a good time, and that's what it is all about!"
