Report From Yantis ISD

 

At a Called Meeting by the Yantis I.S.D. School Board on May 11, 2009, the board voted to place Yantis I.S.D. Superintendent, Michael Barnett on Administrative leave. The suspension from duties was effective immediately.

In an earlier action, at the May 5, 2009 Regular Board Meeting, the board adjourned to executive session to hear the grievance from Cherry Krantz against Superintendent Barnett.

Following executive session, on a motion by Board Member Bo West and seconded by Board Member Boyd McCreight, the board voted (6-0-0) to grant the grievance of Cherry Krantz against Superintendent Michael Barnett and to allow Mr. Oakley and Mr. Bowles to make recommendations concerning her coaching and teaching assignments, based on her performance history.

The Yantis I.S.D. Board will meet again on Friday, May 15, 2009, in another Called Meeting, at 4:00 p.m., to appoint an acting superintendent.
