Yantis Takes Three Wins From
North Hopkins, At Home

It was a "clean sweep" for Yantis, at home, Tuesday night, as they hosted North Hopkins, but it wasn't as easy as it might sound! The Varsity Owls, the JV Owls, and the Lady Owls, all recorded a "W" in their column, but it was some intense basketball action and tough competition. The closest action came in the Lady Owl and Lady Panther match-up, where both teams seemed to be evenly matched and members of both squads were "delegated" to the bench, after getting into foul trouble.

The Lady Owls eventually "pulled-out" the win, with a 45-37 victory. High scorer of the evening was Shelby Allen, who delivered many of her points from the free-throw line.

When the Yantis Owls and the North Hopkins Panthers took the floor, it was super intense basketball. The Owls maintained a lead throughout the match-up but the Panthers never "let-up." Outstanding shots from the floor and a very aggressive style of basketball, coupled with a shooting advantage, thwarted the Panthers' game-plan and resulted in a solid win by the Owls.

The Owls led at the end of the first quarter, with a 14-4 advantage, and saw that lead increase to a 25-11 score at the halftime intermission.

The third quarter of play found the Owls outscoring the Panthers 15-6 and increasing their lead in the game. The final quarter saw Yantis increasing the lead by adding 23 points to their total, with North Hopkins only adding ten additional points.

Yantis will be celebrating Homecoming on Friday night, as they host Savoy. And, North Hopkins will be hosting the Cumby Trojans.
