Wood County Hosts Youth Livestock
Market Show and Sale, Saturday

It was a large crowd of youth, parents, and supporters that gathered at the Golden Sweet Potato Festival Fairgrounds, in Golden, on Saturday, for the 2010 Youth Livestock Market Show and Sale. Youth had shown their animals in individual classes on Thursday and Friday of last week, and then the sale began at noon, on Saturday, featuring livestock and ag mechanics projects that youth from all across Wood County had worked to bring to this year's show and sale.
Buyers from businesses all cross Northeast Texas purchased the 178 lots of animals and projects that the youth had prepared for this year's event, boosting the college funds and supporting the further projects of Wood County.
Top winners in Saturday's event included:
Britney Holcombe, Grand Champion Dairy Heifer, Quitman FFA, Banc Texas was the buyer.
Alex Seeton, Alba-Golden FFA, Grand Champion Commercial Beef Heifer, purchased by
S&J Contractors, Winnsboro.
Jordan Perez, Quitman FFA, Grand Champion Market Swine, purchased by Potts Feed Store.
Gregory Guest, Wood County 4-H, Grand Champion Lamb, purchased by City National Bank.

Jake Jackson, Quitman 4-H, Grand Champion Market Goat, purchased by Don Roberts Abstract Company.
Joshua Lee, Mineola Jr. FFA, Grand Champion Broilers, purchased by Mineola Packing Company.

Kylie Best, Mineola FFA, Grand Champion Rabbit, purchased by
Peoples Telephone Cooperative.
Grand Champion Ag Mechanics Project was shown by Winnsboro FFA, a 17' Combo Horse and
Stock Trailer, purchased by Brumitt Farms.
Buyers and supporters crowded the Golden Sweet Potato Pavillion to purchase the projects prepared
by Wood County Youth, on Saturday.
