Hopkins County 4-H
Winter Warm-Up Show
Scheduled For Saturday in Civic Center

Hopkins County 4-H Agent

"Certainly, it's bitter cold outside!" exclaimed Hopkins County 4-H Agent, Juli Hutchins, on Friday morning. "But, you can count on the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center Arena being warm and a great day of showing livestock, learning, and competing for prizes! I've already got the heat turned-on!"

The Hopkins County 4-H County Council is sponsoring this show, on Saturday, in the Civic Center, as they offer an opportunity for youth from all across the area to bring their livestock to town and get them accustomed to being shown, long before the annual NETLA Market Show and Sale, scheduled for February.

"We want to thank Martindale Feed Company for their help in sponsoring some great prizes and offering our youth the opportunity to get out and learn some of the basic skills in showing livestock, as well as having a great time," expressed Hutchins. "This show is a great place for youth that are showing an animal for the first time, to get both the youth and their project ready for either the county show or the major shows of Ft. Worth, San Antonio, and Houston."

Saturday's activities will begin with weigh-ins at 8:30 a.m., and the actual show will begin at 9:00.

Classes are offered for beef heifers, and market lambs, goats, steers, and swine.

Also, youth who are showing Dairy Classic Heifers are reminded that they need to have their animals at the show between 8:00 a.m. and noon, to have them tagged for the Northeast Texas Dairy Show, held in June.

"We've got some very nice buckles, halters, show bags, and other prizes that youth will be competing for on Saturday," stated Hutchins. "And, we want to encourage the public to come out and enjoy the warmth of the Civic Center and support our youth, as they compete for prizes!"
