Wildcats Overpower Denison With
48-14 Victory at Home

Visions of loss on the brightly lit SMU Stadium, last fall, still danced in the heads of some of the upper classmen, but it was definitely a different Wildcat Team and a Denison Team that took the field on Friday night in Sulphur Springs. Both the Wildcats and Denison looked different and are making adjustments after graduating stellar line-ups from last year. However, one has to say that the Wildcats have adjusted much better and had much more talent waiting in reserve.

Denison managed to score on their first possession of the ball Friday night, but once the Wildcats made a few adjustments, the first half and the entire game was the Wildcats. The Wildcats led 31-7 at halftime and had their "well oiled" defense shutting down almost any hopes of a Denison score. And, the offense "clicked away" at putting points on the board, with an outstanding showing.

Second half, the defense only allowed one touchdown, and the Wildcats, with several reserves seeing playing time, added 17 more points to the board and walked away with the 48-14 victory.

"What can you say? We outclassed them all the way around," commented one Wildcat faithful. "The Denison team definitely has to make some adjustments to play in our district and win, and we dominated the field throughout the night!"

The promise of a much more evenly matched game will be next Friday night, as the Wildcats travel to Sherman, looking for a second district victory.
