A huge crowd of local fans came out and supported the Wildcats in Friday night's home opener, as they hosted the Denton Ryan Raiders, who are ranked #5 in the state polls. "I thought 'the Cats' did great, and stayed with them throughout the game, but we had three crucial turn overs, and with a team like that you can't afford to make mistakes," assessed one local, devoted fan. "Certainly, we made some mistakes, but it's early in the season, and we've got a young team, that's going to make mistakes. That's the reason we have pre-season games, before we begin district play!"

The above assessment "about wrapped up" the feelings of those who attended Friday night's game in Gerald Prim Stadium. The Wildcats made some great plays and held the Denton Ryan team, throughout the game, but "slipped" up with turnovers that gave Denton Ryan the advantage on the scoreboard, as they delivered a 28-14 loss to the Wildcats.

"It's hard to see the Wildcats lose, but they learned that they can play with the best, but just have to keep down the turnovers, and they'll continue to learn and improve," stated another fan. "I was excited to see them 'stay with' them as well as they did throughout the game, and they never gave up! The fourth quarter, they were still playing!"

Quarterback Justin Owens was 12 for 22, with 186 yards of passing and the top receiver was talented, Alvin Frazier, with 101 yards on five receptions. The Wildcats finished the night with 265 total yards, as opposed to 330 gained by the Denton Ryan Raiders.
