
Four Wildcats were inducted into the Wildcat Hall of Honor, on Friday night, in pre-game activities at Gerald Prim Stadium.

Four Sulphur Springs Wildcats were inducted into the Wildcat Hall of Honor on Friday night, in pre-game activities at Gerald Prim Stadium.
They were:
Andy Holt is presented his award and congratulated by his coach, Chuck King.
Andy Holt, a standout in the soccer program at Sulphur Springs High School and the Wildcat Soccer Coach since returning to Sulphur Springs in 2002. In high school he was named All-District, All-Region, and All-Region MVP in soccer, where he excelled in all levels of the game. He played in the TASCO All-Star Game and was a recipient of the Fighting Heart Award at SSHS, as well as a member of the first SSHS Soccer Team to win District. He was a 3 year letterman in basketball and was on the District Championship Team his senior year. Holt attended Mary Hardin Baylor University and was a starter on their soccer team for four years, receiving All-Conference honors.
Holt returned to SSHS as a teacher and Soccer Coach, and has led the Wildcats to eight play-offs, as an outstanding coach. He also coaches Cross Country and is married to the former Lindsey McMeans, and they have one son, Reese, 5. They are members of the local First Baptist Church.
Kerry Wright is presented his award and congratulated by former coach, Doug Evans.
Kerry Wright, was a four sport letterman for the Wildcats and was noted for his abilities on the football field. He started for three years and 34 games as a Wildcat and was on the First Team All-District Team, three years. He was also named All-District Sophomore Defensive Player of the Year, and was an All-State Safety. Wright also was a member of the 4 X 100 Relay Team that set the school record in 1988. He won the Fighting Heart Award at SSHS and was a member of the National Honor Society. He was recruited by
Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Florida A&M, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech, Texas State, and West Point. He accepted a scholarship to Louisiana-Monroe, where he played on two Championship teams, and was named Conference Player of the Week. Wright now works as President of Copy Products in Sulphur Springs, is on the board of the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce, SSISD Board of Education, and on the Cypress Baptist Association. He is youth minister at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and is married to the former Tammy Smith. They have three children, Dadrian, DeAndre' and Kade.

Mike Broyles receives his award and is congratulated by former basketball coach, Leon Kennedy.
Mike Broyles moved to Sulphur Springs in 1958 and the Wildcats received a multi-talented athlete. He was All-District Shortstop his Sophomore year and received All District in football his Junior and Senior Years, as well as Honorable Mention All-State in baseball. As a senior, Broyles was again named All-District in football, basketball, and First Team All-District in baseball, as well as playing on the Wildcat Golf Team, and was Captain of the Football, Basketball and Baseball Teams. He graduated holding the passing yardage record at SSHS. He attended Baylor University and lettered as a freshman and sophomore. He is now retired after a career in productions and operations management. He and his wife, the former Gail Blackburne, also of Sulphur Springs, now make their home in Denison. They have two sons, Geoff and Matthew, and one grandson, Justin.
Joel Sheffield presents Randy and Debbie Leal, longtime friends of Bill Looney, with his
Hall of Honor Award. Looney's award was posthumously.
Bill Looney was honored posthumously as a standout Wildcat, with a special talent on the baseball diamond. He played three years of varsity football and basketball at SSHS, before SSHS started the baseball in 1945. His senior team made it to the state quarterfinals, his senior year, and Looney was named All-State, as the catcher of the team and was selected to play in the North-South All-Star Game. He was Captain of the Football, Basketball, and Baseball Teams his senior year. He graduated from SSHS in 1945 and spent two years in the military, during the Korean Conflict, before entering TCU in 1947. He earned a baseball scholarship his freshman year and was twice named to the All-Southwest Conference, as a catcher. He graduated from TCU with a degree in physical education. Looney then signed with the St. Louis Cardinals and played with several of their farm teams from 1951-54. He then entered a career as a teacher and coach, and later entered the field of marketing. His award was accepted by longtime friends, Randy and Debbie Leal.
