It was a day of fun and honor for the State 4-A Champion Sulphur Springs Wildcat Football Team, Saturday, at Lone Star Dodge. The local business establishment honored the Wildcats with a hamburger cook-out and the Wildcats met with adoring fans, as they autographed footballs, visited with friends, and conducted a silent auction on several items to raise funds for the athletic program.

"It's a great way to honor the Wildcats," expressed Carmen Kraus, a member of the Lone Star Dodge Staff. "We wanted to open our doors in honor the team, coaches, and staff, and invite the public out for a day of fun and excitement."

Depite the early Saturday morning rains, the spirit wasn't dampened at all, as local football team members signed footballs, signed individually printed football cards, and visited with Wildcat hopefuls and fans.

"This is great! I feel like a celebrity!" expressed Ryan Young, as a string of younger boys lined up to get his autograph. "Hopefully we'll encourage others to work and play hard to bring home another state championship!"

A silent auction of footballs, jerseys, and other Wildcat related items was conducted to raise funds for meals before next season's games and other added incentives for the team.

"It's a great day when we can come out and meet the fans and share with them some of the excitement that we still have, following this year's historic fete," expressed Head Coach and Athletic Director Greg Owens. "We want everyone to know how much we appreciate the support of the community and their support during this once in a lifetime season!"
