
Veterans Recognized at
Tuesday's Senior Day at the Fall Festival

Most Decorated Veteran in Hopkins County.
Hopkins County veterans of the Armed Services were honored on Tuesday afternoon, as part of the 41st Annual Hopkins County Fall Festival salute to Senior Citizens. The Annual Senior Citizen's Day at the Fall Festival included a "Free" Mini-Health Fair, beginning at 2:00 p.m.; the "Hopkins County Heroes," honoring local veterans, at 3:00 p.m.; games of Bingo at 4:00 p.m.; and a dinner served at 5:00 p.m., by the Hopkins County Genealogical Society, all to include Hopkins County senior citizens in the week-long County Fair.
Jerry Voss took advantage of the Free Mini-Health Clinic that was offered at the
Senior Citizen's activities part of the Hopkins County Fall Festival, on Tuesday afternoon.

"We wanted to find some way to recognize the many, many residents in Hopkins County who have served in our armed forces and defended our freedoms," explained Karon Weatherman, member of the Hopkins County Fall Festival Board. "So, we just decided to conduct a program in their honor, call on the Hopkins County Military Coalition to post the colors, and include patriotic decorations and songs, and seek out those individuals who had served our country with distinction. And, we found them!"

Hopkins County Veteran with Most Years of Service Lt. Col. Art Romanoff U.S. Air Force, Ret.
June Allain, right, was recognized as the oldest female U.S. Army Veteran in Hopkins County.
Oldest Army Male - Samuel M. Speed Female - June Allain
Oldest Navy Male - Alfred W. Glaess, MD Female - Jackie Semple
Wanda Eggleston, left, was recognized as the oldest Hopkins County female U.S. Air Force veteran.

And, Leroy Dixon, right, was recognized as the oldest Male U.S. Marine Corps veteran, on Tuesday
afternoon.
