Ruth Ann Crowson, Campaign Chairman.

United Way volunteers were treated to lunch, on Friday, by the Southwest Dairy Museum, as they focus on this year's campaign collection, during the month of October. United Way President, Debra Evans, and Campaign Chairman, Ruth Ann Crowson, both spoke to the group of volunteers and thanked them for their untiring efforts, many of which have collected for the local charities for a number of years. "We have a few 'new' faces in the crowd, but many of you have been the 'backbone' of this annual drive for what seems like forever, and I know with your continuted help and support, the campaign is going to be successful, again this year!" denoted Crowson.

Crowson then introduced the luncheon's keynote speaker, Tom Sellers, President of Alliance Bank. Sellers began his address with telling those gathered "that they weren't asking for money, but for help for people struggling in different aspects of their life!"

Tom Sellers, President of Alliance Bank, was the keynote speaker for Friday's volunteer
luncheon, at Southwest Dairy Museum.

Sellers also spoke of a recent book he had read, entitled, "Lessons From a Third Grade Drop-out." "The book inspired me and spoke that the highest calling one can have in life is when they are helping others," stated Sellers, to the over 30 volunteers in attendance. "We're each called upon during this campaign to help those who are unable to help themselves, and these seventeen Hopkins County agencies are depending our efforts to make a difference in this community.

A door-prize donated by Charles and Sharnon Helm Investments, of a one night stay in one of their many properties, was won by volunteer, Judy Tipping.

Judy Tipping was the lucky winner of the door-prize at Friday's luncheon,
compliments of Helm Investments.

Crowson and Evans passed out the packets to be delivered to local businesses, within the next week and announced that the first reporting meeting would be held on Friday, October 14th, at 9:30 a.m., in the Hopkins County Extension Office, on Houston Street. "Please get your packets distributed, so that local businesses can have time to speak to their workers and get the donations colllected," expressed Crowson. "That way, we can all have a happy reporting meeting, on October 14th!"

This year's goal for the local campaign is $150,000.00, and will supply the funding for the seventeen agencies that receive the monies collected.
