Native Hopkins Countian,
Meteorologist Zach Glenn to
Be Featured Speaker at United Way
CEO Luncheon

Press Release From United Way Campaign

"It's that time of year again!" expressed United Way Executive Director Charlotte Henderson, as she announced the speaker for Tuesday, September 29th's CEO Luncheon. "And, we've got a special treat, this year, as our speaker will be native Hopkins Countian, Zach Glenn, who is now a meteorologist with t.v. station KETK!"

Zach Glenn is a Sulphur Springs High School graduate and says that he wanted to be a meteorologist since the age of 5 years old. His dream became a reality, when he attended Texas A&M University in College Station and graduated in 2005. A month before he graduated college, he accepted a position with KETK, and delivers the weather on a daily basis to viewers across Northeast Texas.

Zach, the son of Tim and Cathy Glenn, is married to Sulphur Springs native, Monica Helm, who also is a graduate of Sulphur Springs High School.

"I guess the way that I got involved in forecasting the weather is being afraid of thunderstorms, as a child," quips Glenn. "But, the more I studied about the more facinated I became. I feel very, very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with East Texas weather legend, John Adams, for a short time, and to now work with Dallas/Ft. Worth legend, Scott Chesner, who worked under Harold Taft."

Glenn admits to enjoying spending time with his family, playing "Guitar Hero," reading Harry Potter, and watching sports, when he isn't "watching the clouds." He and Monica are active in their church, also. He states," I'm looking forward to being back in Sulphur Springs, and visiting with old friends and associates, as I help to get this year's United Way Campaign off to a wonderful start!"

Deborah Evans has volunteered as the Campaign Chairman for the 2009-10 Campaign and John Sellers will be serving as President of the Campaign.

Tuesday's CEO Luncheon at The Lodge is for those who have received invitations and contributed $500.00 or more to last year's campaign. "It's always the way we 'kick-off' the campain and get everyone to thinking about making their contributions," allowed Henderson. "It's a great way to start and get everyone ready for a successful drive in Hopkins County. With tough economic times, there is even a greater need to contribute this year, as requests will continue to pour into the local agencies that we fund!"
