SSHS UIL Competes in North Lamar

 

The Sulphur Springs High School UIL Team traveled to Paris for another practice meet January 15th and 16th. The UIL Academic Team brought home the 1st place trophy from the North Lamar Dr. Tommy Eads UIL Invitational Meet. Sulphur Springs has seen 5 out of the 6 schools they will be competing against in district competition.

 

Number Sense:
Zachary Blackmom placed 4th in the 9th grade division and Nathan Grafton and Drew Thomas tied for 6th in the 11th grade division.
Calculator:
Rebecca Sehnert placed 5th in the 10th grade division. Arthur Harbin placed 6th in the 11th grade division and Jeff Spears placed 5th in the 12th grade division..
Mathematics:
Jordan Jackson placed 1st, Zachary Blackmon placed 2nd, and Cody Dennis placed 3rd in the 9th grade division.
Science:
Tyler Aaron placed 6th in the 11th grade division and Andrew Gregory placed 3rd in the 12th grade division.
C-X Debate:
the team of Katy Mason and Autumn Keiss placed 2nd with Autumn Keiss earning the gravel for being Top Speaker
Persuasive Speaking:
Baile Petty placed 5th
Journalism:
Autumn Keiss placed 4th in Feature Writing and Katy Mason placed 2nd in Headline Writing.
Computer Applications:
Courtne Anderson placed 4th and Jessica Cowley placed 6th.
Computer Science:
Jeff Spears placed 2nd and Kade Koon placed 5th individually. Aurthur Harbin, Taylor Ausbrooks, and Kendall Steiber helped the team earn 2nd place.
Accounting:
Jace Orren placed 1st, Kyle Mathes placed 2nd, and Sam Long placed 5th individually. Alexus Dismukes helped the them also place 1st as a team.
Current Events:
Taylor Moore placed 1st, Cole Cable placed 2nd, and Sam Long placed 3rd. Bailee Petty helped them win 1st place as a team.
Literary Criticism:
Katy Mason placed 1st and Emily Mason placed 6th. Leah Hayes and Jessica Cowley helped place 1st as a team.
Spelling and Vocabulary:
Lyndsi Bible placed 2nd and Silvia Gudino placed 6th. Ashley Cleggand Andrew Wallace helped the team place 1st
Ready Writing:
Cole Cable placed 1st, Emily Mason placed 2nd, and Leah Hayes placed 4th.
Social Studies:

Cole Cable placed 3rd, Katy Mason placed 5th, and Sam Long placed 6th. They also placed 1st as a team.
