Open Now
by: Bobby McDonald

Tyler's beautiful Azalea Trails and Spring Flowers Tour opened last weekend and continues through Easter Sunday, April 4th. However, each weekend offers something new and exciting to travel to neighboring Tyler.

Coinciding with the Azalea Trails is the Four Winds Renaissance Faire, featuring knights, jousting, magicians, food, and fun. It is open on weekends from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and is located on Hwy 110 South, 11 miles from Loop 323, between Whitehouse and Troup.

And, on Friday, March 19th and Saturday, March 20th, the Tyler Area Council of Garden Clubs will conduct their 4th Annual Flower Show, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 a.m., with displays of horticulture displays and educational exhibits, as well as the flower displays. It will be located in the Women's Building, located at 911 S. Broadway.

Other weekend activities include an Art Exhibit, Bicycle Tours, and the Tyler Rotary Club Chili Cook-Off. The Chili Cook-Off will be hosted on Saturday, March 20th, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Women's Building. Some 30 cooks will be vying for the title of best cook and serving their "World Champion Chili." Make plans to bring the family and enjoy chili before it gets too hot!

Meanwhile, this weekend also offers an Arts and Crafts Fair, featuring handcrafted merchandise from over 75 vendors at Bergfield Center, located at 1510 South College Avenue. The fair is from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Photograph opportunities abound on the annual Tour of Historic Tyler. For additional information go to www.cityoftyler.org or call (903)531-1370.
