Celebrate the Thanksgiving Season
With These Seasonal Treats
Are you looking for some way to spend some quality time with your elementary aged children? Are you intent on celebrating the Thanksgiving season with an added bit of flair? Or, possibly you're just waiting for some way to "dazzle" your guests as they arrive for Thanksgiving?
Regardless of your intent, the following easy recipes will add some seasonal fun to your holidays and welcome the season into your home.
Oreo Turkey Treats
for each treat you will need:
7 pieces of candy corn
2 Oreo Cookies
1 Whopper Chocolate Ball
1 Reeses Peanut Butter Cup
also have ready
a tube of black piping gel
a tube or can of white icing
yellow and red food coloring
a plastic zip-lock bag
a sharp knife
a pair of scissors
a mixing bowl
Begin by placing the Reeses Peanut Butter cups in the refrigerator, so they will
be cool and firm.
Squeeze some of the white icing in the mixing bowl. This will be your orange when you
add red and yellow food coloring to it to make the desired orange shade. Place orange
icing in the ziploc bag for later use.
Begin assembly with creating the tail of the turkey, using one oreo cookie and six pieces
of candy corn. Gently pull apart one side of the oreo cookie, being careful not to break it.
Place the six pieces of candy corn between the cookie parts and anchor with some of the
white icing, if the creamy center of the cookie is not enough to hold them.
Take the other oreo cookie and place a generous amount of white icing on it, then
place the first cookie (tail part) into the icing, standing it up. (If it doesn't stand,
add more icing.) Anchor until the icing has time to dry.

Remove your Peanut Butter Cups from the refrigerator and take your knife to cut off one
side, to have a flat surface (see photo). Put icing on the bottom of the Peanut Butter cup
and place it next to the standing oreo cookie.
Next take the Whopper chocolate ball and place white icing on one side of it. Place on
top of the Peanut Butter cup to make the head.
Then, find a piece of candy corn and cut the white pointed section from it, to use as
the beak, stick to the Whopper ball with white icing, and allow to dry.
Next, take you white icing and create two white eyes on the Whopper ball, as shown,
and then make the center of the eyes with the black gel.
Using the orange icing from the ziploc bag, cut a hole in the corner and squeeze it to
pipe the feet onto the bottom oreo cookie.
You now should have the completed cookie to enjoy. Refrigerate until ready to serve!
