It was a busy day at ABC Autoplex in Sulphur Springs, on Saturday, as the 9th Annual Hollie Swatsell Memorial Toy Run, got underway, early in the morning. Motorcylists from all across Northeast Texas arrived to participate in the run and to make their way down county roads in the beautiful weather and sunshine. "It was just absolutely gorgeous, riding down your country roads with beautiful fall foliage and spectacular sunshine and warm weather," exclaimed one of Saturday's participants. "This was certainly one of the most pleasureable days we've had all season!"

Saturday's event was "marred" when one of the riders, Jennifer Lucas, of Sulphur Springs, had a motorcycle accident. Details were "sketchy," but Lucas left the roadway on Hwy 269 and was involved in an accident. She was rushed to Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, where she underwent successful surgery.

Meanwhile, back at the original starting place, prayers were offered on Jennifer's behalf, music and lunch was enjoyed, and toys were collected for underprivileged children, to make this holiday season brighter. Then, the proceeds from this year's toy run were awarded to a local baby, Jonah Rodriguez, who is waiting for a liver transplant. The child and his parents were "on hand" at Saturday's event, and the parents thanked everyone for their aid and concern.

Jonah Rodriguez, held by his dad, was the recipient of this year's monies raised,
as he awaits a liver transplant.

Saturday afternoon was devoted to a number of motorcycle games, involving skill and fun!

"It was a great event, again this year!" exclaimed Polly Swatsell and Ronnie Parish, of ABC Autoplex. "And, our prayers are with Jennifer Lucas and her family, with all of us wishing her a complete and quick recovery from her injuries!"
