by: Bobby McDonald
SSHS Principal John McCullough introduced the top two grads in the Class of 2009, at a press conference in the SSHS Library, Thursday afternoon. They are Jake Russell and Brandon Harry. "It's with great pleasure that I introduce you to these two fine young men," allowed McCullough. "Both are outstanding students and ones that we are extremely proud of!"
Jake, the son of Glen and Ellen Russell, was named the valedictorian of the class with a weighted GPA of 5.66. He's a member of the Student Council, FCA, National Honor Society, and was a member of the State Champion Wildcat Football Team. He has his priorities right, as he plans to attend Texas A&M University, and major in either Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering.

High School Principal, John McCullough, congratulates Jake Russell as being the 2009 Valedictorian
of the SSHS Class.

Salutatorian, Brandon Harry, son of Tony and Danette Harry, of Reilly Springs, accumulated a four year, weighted GPA, of 5.60, one-hundreths of points behind Russell. He is vice-president of the Senior Class, BPA President, and a member of the National Honor Society. He has plans to attend Dallas Baptist University and major in finance and marketing for a career choice.
Both young men expressed a strong work and study ethic as the reason for them being at the top of the class. "Being active in a number of extra-curricular activities makes you set priorities and learn to manage the tasks that you have to complete," expressed Russell. "Keeping busy makes the time pass faster and requires you to get your work done efficiently!"

McCullough congratulates Brandon Harry as being the 2009 Class Salutatorian.
"You learn to appreciate the teachers that teach you more than just the classroom material," expressed Brandon. "Those that are tough and teach you about life, as well as their subject matter, are the ones that you remember!"
Both young men have attended school in the SSISD for all of their school careers. Jake attended Lamar Elementary School and Brandon attended Bowie Elementary School, during their elementary school days.
Congratulations to Jake
and Brandon on a Great
School Career!!!
