              Thomas C. Sellers of Alliance Bank in Sulphur Springs has been elected Vice Chairman of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT).  He was chosen for this key position in the nation’s largest state community banking organization during the 35th annual convention at San Antonio’s La Cantera Resort Oct 10-13.

              Sellers will serve on an executive committee chaired by Allan J. Rasmussen of HomeTown Bank of Galveston and including Chairman-Elect J. David Williams of HCSB in Kerrville and Secretary-Treasurer Scott Heitkamp of ValueBank Texas in Corpus Christi. Milton McGee Jr. of Henderson Citizens Bancshares in Henderson will continue to serve as immediate past chairman and be joined by Leadership Division President Todd Price of First State Bank in Mesquite and IBAT President Chris Williston.

              New board members elected to three-year terms are Robert Weinzapfel of Muenster State Bank, Sam Baker of First Bank of Conroe and Lee Gaskamp of Bank of Brenham.

              The Independent Bankers Association of Texas represents more than 2,000 Texas-based community banks and branches in 700 communities across the state.
