John Grisham Delivers Another
"Top Notch" Legal Thriller With
The Confession
For John Grisham fans, the long awaited next book, The Confession, has arrived and it delivers another great legal thriller, that we've grown to expect from Grisham. The fast paced account of a young black man, Donte Drumm, only four days away from execution on Texas' Death Row, for killing a pretty Texas high school cheerleader, is suddenly thrown into chaos, as an ex-con, confesses to the murder.
Rev. Keith Schoeder, is just an ordinary minister in a small Kansas town, when he is suddenly confronted with a confession from a middle-aged man, Travis Boyette, off the street, claiming he abducted, raped, and killed the popular cheerleader, in the East Texas town of Slone, back in 1998.

Meanwhile, Donte Drumm, the black, high school football star, that has maintained that he was innocent from the very beginning, is sitting on Death Row, in Texas, the state that is noted for its "speedy" executions. For nine years he has claimed his innocence, despite confessing to the crime, after being held and questioned for hours, without any lawyers present.
Robbie Flak is Donte's lawyer, who has worked desperately to get his conviction overturned, from the beginning, and belives in his innocence.
Working with the Kansas minister and attempting to stop the execution, can Flak save Drumm from death? But, will the Texas authorities believe the testimony of an ex-con? Is Boyette convincing enough?
The town of Slone, is about to "burst" at the seams, with riots, as the body of the cheerleader was never found and no physical evidence was found....is it strictly a case of racial profiling?
Most states have never convicted anyone of murder without physical evidence, but not Texas!
What must they do to convince lawyers, judges, and politicians that Drumm is actually innocent? Do they even have enough time to prevent this execution of an innocent man?
For every innocent man sent to prison, there is another guilty one left on the outside, who actually committed the crime!
Grishman paints the picture of the legal justice system and the many facets of conviction, absolution, and execution, as he weaves the Donte Drumm story, and asks you to make the decision of guilt or innocence, in a small Texas town!
