"Wildcat Spirit" at a Premium
Thursday Night at Tailgate Party
On Square
by: Bobby McDonald
When the Wildcat Band, the Blue Blazes Drill Team, Cheerleaders, and "Wally the Wildcat" are joined by the Wildcat Football Team, Coaches, and hundreds of "hot dog cooking" fans, it makes one of the biggest tailgate parties in Northeast Texas. Thursday night the downtown square in Sulphur Springs was quickly converted into the "Wildcat Mania Zone" as the Wildcat spirit was boosted for the play-off game when the Wildcats meet the Bastrop Bears in Waco Midway Stadium, in Waco.

"It was just a great way to boost spirit and let the Wildcats know that we're behind them 200%, as they advance in the play-offs!" exclaimed Meredith Caddell, with the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce and one of the event organizers. "We wanted to show our spirit and let the Wildcats know just how much we want them to bring us back a Thanksgiving win!"

Coach Matt Young calls for a Defensive "wall" against the Bastrop Bears and encourages everyone to yell
"3 and OUT!" on third downs!

Grills, cookers, and hot dog stands were everywhere, as fans, team members, and support groups gathered around "heater barrels" and enjoyed the brisk autumn weather, on Thursday night. Chants, songs by the band, and an introduction of the team by Coach Greg Owens added to the festivities, as the crowd cheered the team to victory!

The Wildcat game will kick-off at 7:30 p.m., in Waco, with a large crowd of fans making plans to follow them "down south" as they bring us back a victory!
Go Wildcats!!!
