Prairiland, Monday Night

Coach Marshall Moore and Assistant David Toon's Sulphur Bluff Bears traved to Prairiland, on Monday night, where they "met-up" with the Roxton Lions, in bi-district competition. But, their quest ended after a successful season, with a loss to the Lions.

The Bears won the "tip-off" and began the game with control of the ball, but was unable to score on their initial possession. Two possessions later the Lions managed to score on a three-point connection to take the lead, and never relinquished the lead. However, the Bears continued to fight hard and began their scoring drive with a three-point basket, as well. The Lions led at the end of the first period 13-8.

The second quarter found the Bears connecting for 11 points, but allowing the Lions to score 14. So, at halftime intermission, the Roxton Lions led 27-19.

In both the third and fourth periods, the Bears managed to add 11 points per quarter to their score, but the Lions out-paced them with 22 and 21 points respectively.

The final score was 70-41, but the "match-up" was closer than the score reflected, as Coach Moore, when he saw the game impossible to win, did the admirable thing, and fielded a group of his substitutes, to gain experience for future success. However, the Roxton coach failed to do the same thing and run the score even higher.

Game Stats are as follows:

"I'm extremely proud of our coach and the way he fielded some of the guys that didn't get to play much during the season," expressed one devoted Sulphur Bluff fan. "He knows that the success of his program next year, depends on the experience, and that there are members of the team that have worked hard all season and deserve the opportunity to play in the post season play!

Congratulations to Coach Moore and the Sulphur Bluff Bears on a great season!!!
