On a day that seemed like every community in Hopkins County was celebrating something, the Sulphur Bluff Community was raising funds for their FFA Chapter, with their annual Fish Fry and Auction. Folks lined-up for what has become traditionally one of the best meals in the community, for fried catfish, hushpuppies, French fries, and all the trimmings, as parents, students, and staff served another great meal!
Then, it was an auction of shopmade projects that the FFA students had completed throughout the year, for the auction. A variety of items from utility trailers, gates, and feed troughs, for the farm to lawn and garden ornaments, swings and other household items were presented and auctioned.
This shop constructed "Sulphur Bluff Bear" was an interesting item
in Saturday's auction, with several wanting to bid on the school mascot.

"This is our annual fundraiser to support the local FFA chapter," exclaimed Chapter Advisor, Sotero Ramirez. "We use the making of the projects in our shop class as a learning experience for the students and then it's a great time for our community come out and support the youth and enjoy a great meal!"
"There's not much better way to spend a Saturday than eating catfish and supporting the kids!" exclaimed a patron with his plate 'loaded down' with Saturday's fare. "This is always an outstanding meal and the kids always have some useful projects to purchase for the home and farm!"
