"Wagons Ho!!!"

October 23rd

Mike Odell, Candidate for Precinct #2 County Commissioner, center, joins forces with his neighbors in promoting
the St. Jude Chilren's Hospital Trailride on October 23rd. Odell was one of the first to lend his support for this
event to benefit cancer research. Left to right with Odell are, in the wagon, Corey Anderson and Odell's two grandsons,
Mike Odell, and horseback, Cathi Wright, Jim Wright, and Daniel Walker.

Their names may not be "Agamemnon" or "Iphigenia"....... but their names are "Rooster" and "Diamond" and they'll be two "stars of the show" at Saturday, October 23rd's Trail Ride For St. Jude, between Como and Pickton. They will be one of the teams of mules pulling a wagon in the trailride at Two J Ranch, that begins at 10:00 a.m. The benefit trailride is open to the public and is to raise funds to help St. Jude Children's Hospital fight cancer and other catastrophic diseases, according to ranch owner, Jim Murray. "We're donating all of the proceeds to St. Jude and ask that everyone come out and enjoy a beautiful day of fun and fellowship, while participating in a worthy cause!" expressed Murray.

"We'll be serving a free lunch, with donations accepted, of homemade chili, Hopkins County Stew, and Roughneck Sausages," continued Murray. "The gates at the ranch will open at 7:00 a.m. and the actual trailride will begin at 10:00!"

"It should be a great day here in East Texas, with cooler temperatures, and the autumn leaves turning their vibrant colors," inserted Jim and Cathi Wright, other organizers of the event.

Jim Murray assured us that these "trophy" Longhorns, on his Two J Ranch" wouldn't be a part of the beef
stew, served at October 23rd's benefit stew and trailride.

"We'll be giving wagon rides to adults for $25.00 and children under 12, for $10.00," expressed Junior Gregg, who plans to have Ol' Rooster and Diamond, in "tip-top" shape, in time for the event. "It's a great opportunity to bring your children out, enjoy the outdoors, great food and fellowship, as we celebrate the Western lifestyle and help the children who would give anything in the world to enjoy such an outing!"

"I'm a cancer survivor and know how important it is to aid in research and make a difference in fighting the consequences of this disease," continued Gregg. "We want to do what we can to support St. Jude and help those kids!"

Murray and Mike Teer encouraged everyone to come out, bring their horses, and bring their wagons, and spend a great day in the Como and Pickton areas of Hopkins County.
