St. James Catholic Church Conducts
Annual Mexican Fiesta and Auction, Saturday Night
From Staff Reports
It was a large crowd of Sulphur Springs residents that traveled to the Hopkins County Civic Center, on Saturday night, for the annual St. James Catholic Church Mexican Fiesta and Auction. "It's one of the best meals you'll find!" advised Justice of the Peace Yvonne King. "Anytime Mrs. Aguilar and her kids get together and start cooking, you know it's going to be great!"

State Representative Mark Homer was among those attending the local
dinner and auction. Mark is shown here with his local friend, Roy King.
"We've told all of our friends about it, and we all meet and make a night of the dinner and auction," continued King. "It's great food, loads of fun, and everybody has a great time!"

Mike Odell, candidate for Commissioner Precinct #2, and his wife, Rose, were among those
that attended Saturday night's dinner and auction.

The funds collected at the annual auction help the local parish with outreach programs, that benefit the local community, by providing charities and supporting youth programs in the Hopkins County area.
"We enjoy getting together as a family each year and preparing the food for our fellow church members and the community," advised Tony Aguilar. "It's our way of helping the community and our church, as we all strive to make Hopkins County a great place to live.
Local auctioneer, Don Sapaugh, donated his services to conduct the live auction, while a number of items were also offered in a silent auction, that was conducted throughout the night!

Many items were offered in both a silent and live auction to raise funds for
the local parish.
