Second Weekend of "Stick Bull"
Competition Names Two More Winners

by: Bobby McDonald

With three Hopkins County football teams in scrimmage competition and school almost ready to start, the competitors were "light" on Saturday, for the second week of the PBR Stick Bull Competition, but the action continued to be "fierce" and the crowd roared with excitement to cheer the little cowboys on! Competition got underway at 10:00 a.m., Saturday morning.

Three-year old Luke Kile, is show "sizing-up" the competition, before
Saturday's action got underway.

Winning the 3-6 age group and advancing to Saturday night, August 22nd's performance in the Civic Center, was three-year old, Luke Kile, who was atop "Big Black," and he was such a competitive performer, he had to be "taken out of the ring," after three more exhibition performances.

Anticipation built.....and the gate opened....

"Big Black" jumped out of the chute.....

And, went into a wild spin.....

Luke "bit the dust" but had managed to stay on the required 8-seconds for the ride!

And, in the 6 and over age group, it was eight-year old Coeby Purser, who won the judges' knod, for the chance to advance to the PBR ring in the Civic Center. He rode "Red Rock" during his winning ride!

Eight-year old, Coeby Purser, said a word of prayer and contemplated
the opening of the chute....

"Red Rock" made a jump of astounding proportions....

And, went into that deadly spin....

But, Coeby was still atop, when the buzzer sounded!!!

Both Coeby and Luke will be joining last weeks winners in entertaining the crowd, during intermissions of the real competition. They won tickets to the performances and one for their parent or guardian. Make you plans to come cheer these little cowboys on, either Friday or Saturday night, in the Civic Center, where the action is sure to be competitive.

This year's "Stick Bull" Competition was sponsored by Circle E Western Wear.
