Brynden Andrews and Macen Howle
Capture Market Steer Show, Saturday

by: Bobby McDonald

It was a large crowd of parents, grandparents, supporters, and beef cattle producers that gathered in the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, on Saturday morning, for the annual 2010 Market Steer Show. Once the "dust settled" and the thirty steers exhibited by youth from Hopkins County, had been paraded before the judge, it was Bryden Andrews, with his 1265 pound Charolais crossbred steer, that walked away with the Grand Champion honors. Brynden is a member of the Hopkins County 4-H Club.

Winning the second highest spot and Reserve Grand Champion was Miller Grove FFA member, Macen Howle. Howle's 1095 pound Charolais crossbred steer was the winner of the class 2 entries.

"These are some great steer!" exclaimed the judge, as he placed the classes and named the champions. "They've been selected and fitted right and show that your youth are participating in the learning experience of showing livestock. You've got great facilities, great animals, but more importantly a great group of young people, that I've certainly enjoyed working with today!"
