State Farm Agent Brittany Wilson
Donates Care Bears to Police Department

It was a welcomed addition to the Sulphur Springs Police Department, on Thursday morning, when local State Farm Insurance Agent, Brittany Wilson, saw a need in the community and responded with a donation. "We're always touched by the children when our officers respond to an accident or must arrest the parents of a young one," explained Chief of Police Jim Bayuk. "So, I mentioned to Brittany that to have some care bears to help soothe the pain and trauma of the children, would really be an asset to our officers and department!"

"When I heard about this need and knew that State Farm had the bears, it was just another opportunity for us to spread goodwill in the community," allowed Brittany. "That's where the idea was born and we've delivered 50 of the bears and will be replinishing them as needed!"

"So many times our officers are faced with a youngster whose parents may need to be arrested and they are traumatized by the ordeal. The children are really the ones who suffer in so many of the cases, and it tears at the heart, when you see them have to bear the pain," continued Bayuk. "We just want to do anything that we can to ease the pain and help the children!"

Bayuk allowed that the bears will be placed in the trunks of all Sulphur Springs Police Department patrol cars and available to officers when they are faced with a traumatic experience in the life of a child.

This is just another example of how local businesses can become involved with community and make a positive impact in the lives of our citizens.

A family affair....Brittany Wilson was joined by her husband, Jeff, and three daughters, Ash,
Maddie and Kimber, at the Thursday morning presentation.
