Home 56-22 Win From Royce City

A large crowd of Wildcat fans made their way to Royce City, on Friday night, to witness "the boys of fall" deliver a crushing blow to Royce City, on their home turf and clinch a second place in district play. With the 56-22 victory, the Wildcats will face Jacksonville in next week's first round of the play-offs, as they meet the Indians in Tyler's Rose Bowl Stadium, on Thursday night, November 11th.

The Wildcats lost the coin toss and kicked-off to the Bulldogs, but soon the Wildcat Defense had them stopped and the Cats were marching toward their first touchdown of the night. The Wildcats received the ball on a failed 4th down conversion by the Bulldogs and two plays later they were in the end zone, when Owens connected with Alvin Frazier and he went 70 yards for a touchdown. Bravo's PAT was good and the Wildcats led and completed their "confidence building" effort of "striking early in the game!"

And, it wasn't long before Owens connected again with Clatyon and Sulphur Springs took a 14-0 lead, when Bravo added the PAT. The first quarter ended with the 14-0 scored.

Second quarter found the Wildcats increasing their lead to 21-0, on a Kendrick Daniels run into the end zone, and another Bravo kick made its mark between the uprights. With approximately 4 and one-half minutes left to play, Owens returned to Alvin Frazier and the Wildcats led, 28-0, after another Bravo PAT.

The Royce City Bulldogs managed a score with approximately one minute left on the clock, in the half, but the Wildcats blocked the kick and the score was 28-6 going to the halftime intermission.

The Wildcats received the second half kick-off and continued their dominance in the game, as they scored on a 20 yard run from Kendrick Daniels and Bravo added the extra point, to give them a comfortable 35-6 lead, with 10:03 remaining on the clock for the third quarter. Less than a minute later, Sharard Timmons captured an interception and ran 58 yards for another Wildcat TD. Bravo delivered again and the Wildcats led 42-6.

In the waning seconds of the third quarter, the Bulldog's Beck intercepted a Macek pass and managed to avoid all tackles to score again for Royce City. The PAT was good, this time, and the quarter ended with a score of 42-13.

With a fourth quarter played by second, third, and sometime "fourth" string players, in part of the line-up, the Wildcats still managed to score two more touchdowns. The first one was on an interception by Trey Younger, and Bravo added his PAT. The Wildcats led 49-13.

The Bulldogs managed to add a field goal and the score became 49-16.

Then, Macek connected with junior Cole Hill and he scampered almost the length of the field to score the final Wildcat TD of the night. Bravo kicked the last PAT and in what is quickly becoming expected, it was good! The Wildcats led, 56-16.
