ExxonMobil Educational Alliance Grant
Obtained by SSISD Schools
Press Release from SSISD
Bowie Elementary, Lamar Elementary, Travis Elementary, Douglas Elementary, Sulphur Springs Middle School and Sulphur Springs High School have each received a $750 grant from the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program to support the school’s academic program. Corey Burgin of Joe Bob’s Convenience Stores and Buck Booker of Super Handy Convenience Stores worked with school officials to secure the grants, which are six of 2,400 available to schools across the country served by Exxon or Mobil Stations. The grants were made possible by funding from the ExxonMobil Corporation.
“These schools work hard to make learning interesting and fun,” said Mr. Booker and Mr. Burgin. “As retailers we are proud to help young people of Sulphur Springs.
The ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program is designed to provide Exxon and Mobil retailers with an opportunity to invest in the future of their communities through educational grants to neighborhood schools. ExxonMobil believes that, as members of the community, local retailers are best qualified to work with local educators to help identify schools and programs most in need of support.
Joe Bob’s Convience Store’s and Super Handy Convenience Store’s met stringent eligibility criteria before applying for and being awarded the grants, including having a commitment to provide a superior buying experience for customers.
