"It is with great pleasure that I'm able to name two outstanding young ladies as the top grads for the Class of 2010, at Sulphur Springs High School!" began SSHS Principal John McCullough, in presenting the class valedictorian and salutatorian, in ceremonies Thursday afternoon. "Both young ladies have had an outstanding high school career and have big plans for college careers."

Leading the 2010 Class at SSHS as valedictorian is Katheryn Elizabeth Mason, the daughter of Jeff and Jackie Mason, with a weighted GPA of 5.634. She's been involved in many activities for the past four years as a member of the Student Council, the Hopkins County Leadership Class, Key Club, the National Honor Society, and a Senior Class Officer. She is a National Merit Scholar Commended Student and has qualified for State UIL twice.

Class valedictorian, Kathryn Mason, is flanked by her parents Jackie and Jeff Mason.

Mason plans to attend Baylor University and become a pediatric surgeon, after completing an undergraduate degree involving history. She credits her placement at the top the class academically with having parents that "pushed" her to excel and with encouragement from both friends and teachers. "Lyndsi and I are best friends and she's helped me to reach this goal!" acknowledged Mason. "I was second at the beginning of the year and through her encouragement, I was able to edge ahead before the year. That's just the kind of friend that Lyndsi is!"

Class Salutatorian is Lyndsi Bible, the daughter of Tony and Linda Bible of Sulphur Springs. Bible is graduating with a weighted GPA of 5.627 and has also been involved in numerous activities at Sulphur Springs High School during her four year career. Lyndsi serves as president of the Senior Class and president of the Gladys Alexander Chapter of the National Honor Society at SSHS. She is a National Merit Scholar Commended student, and AP Scholar, and member of the 2009 State Champion UIL Spelling and Vocabulary team.

Class salutatorian, Lyndsi Bible, is congratulated by her father, Tony Bible, on Thursday
afternoon. Her mother, Linda Bible was unable to attend, as she is in Baylor Hospital.

Bible plans to attend Sam Houston State University pursuing a degree in either psychology or education.

Both young ladies were "reeling" from AP tests, taken earlier in the day, that they termed "very, very challenging!"

Congratulations,
Top Grads of SSHS Class of 2010!!!
