

Special Crimes Unit Apprehends Two
in Methamphetamine Case
From Hopkins County Special Drug Task Force
Two individuals found that it doesn't pay to manufacture and distribute drugs in Hopkins County, on Monday. Special Crimes Unit members, Ron Plaxco, Harold McClure, and Tony Krause received a tip of "drug activity" in the 800 block of Alabama Street, in Sulphur Springs. They promptly set up survelliance and observed a vehicle leaving the residence about 2:30 p.m., on Monday. The vehicle occupied by two people, made its way to Interstate-30 making a number of traffic violations.
The officers pulled the vehicle over at the 123 West Mile Marker, on I-30, conducted a search of the vehicle and found the driver, 22 year-old Sylvia Lopez, of Point, Texas, to be in possession of a controlled substance, methamphetimines. The passenger, Charlie Havens, age 33, of Seagoville, Texas, was noted to have substantial amount of methaphetamines hidden beneath his seat, in the vehicle. Both individuals were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance a 2nd Degree Felony and sent to the Hopkins County Jail.
Over 15 grams of methamphetamines were recovered in the search, with a street value in excess of $1,500.00.
Both Havens and Lopez were arraigned on Tuesday, before Judge Ronnie Glossup, where bond was set for $20,000.00 each, and they remained in the Hopkins County Jail.
