The Skills USA classes at Como-Pickton School "took a break" from the classroom, with a field trip to the State Fair of Texas, last Thursday. "It was a great learning experience for everyone," expressed Loretta Cox, Skills USA Advisor. "The State Fair of Texas offers fun and a variety of learning experiences for our students, from visiting booths on world culture, to getting ideas in the creative arts building, to just having fun on the Midway!"
Classes left Como-Pickton School at approximately 7:30 a.m. and traveled by bus, to the fairgrounds in Dallas, where the enjoyed the day, before returning to school, late on Thursday afternoon.

Como-Pickton Skills USA students boarded the bus at 7:30 a.m., to attend the State Fair of Texas.
50 Como-Pickton High School SKILLS USA members attended the State Fair of Texas, 11 students from Cosmetology (chapter 3389) and 39 from Construction Technology (chapter 3709).
"We had a wonderful time exploring projects for competition, " exclaimed cosmetology vice-president, Taeler Schepp.
"The Members of SKILLS USA would like to thank advisors, Ms. Cox and Mr. Glasscock, for taking us on the trip!" expressed Cosmetology President, Kaci Fields.


And, these students found some time, to "pull a joke" on Ms. Cox's van.
In recent activities, the Skills USA Classes at Como-Pickton have elected officers. Serving for the 2010-11 year are:
