Lamb and Goat Validation Conducted
Monday at Civic Center
by: Bobby McDonald
Youth from all across Hopkins County arrived at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, on Monday afternoon, with their lamb and goat projects for the Hopkins County Market Show in February. The youth were responsible for entering their animal in the show and the animal received a permanent ear tag, that must be displayed at show time. "It's to insure that the projects are started right and that the youth have their animals purchased by the deadline," advised Amber Norris, Lamb and Goat Superintendent of the Market Show. "Students have certain criteria that must be met, in order to show in our county show and in the major shows across Texas. We'll be forwarding information to Houston, Ft. Worth, and San Antonio Shows, on those animals that will be shown there."
These North Hopkins FFA members had their lamb and goat projects "lined-up" for tagging.

These Sulphur Bluff FFA members tagged their lamb and goat projects, Monday.
Members of the Sulphur Bluff FFA were the first to arrive with their projects on Monday afternoon at 4:00, and soon had them tagged into the show.
And, these youth from Miller Grove FFA had their projects ready to be entered.

Quickly others began to arrive and it was "utter chaos" as everyone began to line-up to get their animals entered into the show.
"I'm still attempting to get the totals all matched and the entries completed," allowed Norris, on Tuesday morning. "It was after 7:45 p.m., when we completed checking all of them and I haven't had time to 'sift' through the entries, to know exactly how many animals we have entered. I know that there were more lambs than goats, but that's about all I can tell you now!"
The Hopkins County Market Show will be here before long, and youth all across Hopkins County are working to get their animals fed, exercised, and ready for the show.
