SSISD Board Meets Monday Night

A regular meeting of the Sulphur Springs ISD school board was held on Monday, May 10, 2010.
PUBLIC FORUM
No one requested to address the Board during the Public Forum section of the meeting.
Kathryn Mason was recognized by the Board as the Valedictorian of the Class of 2010.
Lyndsi Bible was recognized by the Board as the Salutatorian of the Class of 2010.
ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS
Jake Battenfield, Tax Attorney, shared information with the Board regarding a Tax Trust Interlocal Agreement with Limited Power of Attorney.
Mrs. Bolton reviewed an update on construction projects prepared by Richard Crump, Architect,. Copies of the update were provided to Board members and will also be posted on the district website.
A report was given of six grant applications in process or negotiation.
Rickie Elliott gave a report on the Food Service program.
ACTION ITEMS
Along with routine matters, the Board approved the following:
Head Start Program Priority Screening Instrument (PSI).
Proposals for hourly contracting rates for carpenter (Sunbelt South Construction & Emmaus Construction), electrician (Hudson Electric), plumber (AAA Full Service Plumbing), roofer (Sunbelt South Construction), and welder (Sunbelt South Construction & Emmaus Construction) services.
The Oath of Office was administered to returning board members Clay Johnson, Foy Williams and Kerry Wright. The three members were elected by proclamation since there were no other candidates for their position.
The Board reorganized for the 2010-2011 year. New officers were elected as follows:
President – Jacquelyn Brice
Vice President – Jason Dietze
Secretary – Kerry Wright
Competitive Tobacco Compliance Grant application for $6,000.00.
KSST was designated as the official radio station to broadcast the Sulphur Springs Independent School District sporting events for the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 school years per district UIL rule.
