Scam Alert For People in
Hopkins County

We received a phone call from Sulphur Springs Police Chief Jim Bayuk, today, that reflected that he'd had a report of someone in Sulphur Springs receiving a telephone call, via their cell phone. The caller instructed them that they had won $390,000.00 and in order to claim the prize, they were to go to their bank and withdraw $500.00 and send it by Western Union, to a certain location. The prize would then be sent to them!

"We're just wanting everyone to be aware that this scam is out there and there is a possibility that others may get just such a call," expressed Bayuk. "We always tell everyone to beware of these kind of things and more than likely if it sounds too good to be true, it is!"

Bayuk wanted everyone to watch for these type calls and to notify local law enforcement if they receive such a call. "Get as much information as you can and let us know," advised Bayuk. "That will help us in apprehending those who are responsible for such actions!"
