Sulphur Bluff High School's One-Act Play
"Asylum," Will Advance to Regional Competition
From Joyce Major, Sulphur Bluff School
It's a smiling cast and crew that are coming to drama department practices, this week, at Sulphur Bluff High School, as their 2010 Entry in UIL One-Act Play competition is advancing to the regional contest, to be held at Paris Junior College, on Wednesday, March 31st.

Rebecca Naylor received "Best Actress" Award for her
performace in "Asylum."
The Sulphur Bluff High School students presented "Asylum," by Jerome McDonough, in the competition. The play is a highly theatrical play in several connected scenes, dealing with the premise that anyone should be allowed to live the way he sees fit, without being constantly in danger of being "healed" by some opposing faction. The play is touted as the essence of simple theater with the emphasis placed on innovative performance and direction. The cast takes the audience through a mirage of episodes that dissolves into another, like an absurd dream. Each episode features you seeing yourself in the scene.

Cast and crew members include: Ashley Bryat, Hayley Lawson, Jaime Formoso, Ginger Thompson, Maria Villalon, Minerva Marquez, Lucas Ivey, Royce Naylor, Charlie Carns, Dakota Brooks, Ian Zeringue, Brittney Harria, Travis Taylor, Rebecca Naylor, Austin Fitzgerald, Michelle Davis, Joe Hill, and Jackie Blake. The play is directed by Sulphur Bluff theater arts teacher, Moorea Coker.

Jaime Formoso and Austin Fizgerald were named to the All-Star Cast for their
performances in the play.
Individual awards for best actress were won by Rebecca Naylor and Jaime Formoso and Austin Fitzgerald received All-Star Cast designations. Royce Naylor was awarded an honorable mention for his performance.

Senior, Royce Naylor, received Honorable Mention recognition for his
performance in "Asylum," at district competition.
Congratulations and Best of Luck,
Sulphur Bluff One-Act Play!!!
