Saltillo "Hangs On" To Defeat Yantis 45-40

It had promised to be one of the best games of the Miller Grove Invitational Tournament and the Saltillo Lions and the Yantis Owls gave those in attendance "their money's worth!" Yantis came into the game after having defeated Cooper, on Thursday, and advancing in the winner's bracket, while the Saltillo Lions had defeated Celeste to advance.

The Yantis Owls had a "flat" first half ballgame and were behind 11 points going into the locker room for halftime intermission. However, they returned to the court with new enthusiasm for the second half. But, even outscoring the Saltillo Lions throughout the second half, and coming within three points of the Lions, Yantis couldn't advance ahead in the match-up. The Lions won the match-up 45-42 and will advance in the Championship Bracket of the tournament, as they face Whitewright at 7:00 p.m., tonight.

Meanwhile, Yantis will face Lone Oak, in what promises to be another tough match-up. The game begins at 4:30 p.m., Friday afternoon.
In other tournament action, the Miller Grove Hornets were defeated last night by Colleyville, 73-66, and Winnsboro defeated Chess, 64-60. Whitewright defeated Lone Oak, 61-42. Miller Grove will play Chess at 5:45 p.m., tonight, and Winnsboro will face Colleyville at 8:15, Friday night.
