Saltillo Lions Advance In Play-Offs
After Defeating Sulphur Bluff Bears

It was an exciting night in county basketball as the Sulphur Bluff Bears and the Saltillo Lions met on the hardwood in North Hopkins to determine which team would advance into the play-offs. Miller Grove had earlier won the District 22-A competition, and Saltillo and Sulphur Bluff were vying for the #2 spot in the district competition.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sulphur Bluff came out strong and scored 6 points before the Lions could add any points to the scoreboard. However, once the Lions got into the rhythm of play, they managed to add 14 points to their side of the scoreboard, while maintaining defensively and preventing the Bears any more scoring. The score was 14-6 in favor of the Lions at the end of the first quarter of play.

 

 

 

 

The second period found the Lions adding 15 points to their effort while defensively holding the Bears to only 7 points. The Lions led at halftime intermission 29-13.

 

 

 

The third period found the Saltillo Lions "putting the game in the bag" while scoring an additional 15 points, while the Bears could only manage 8 points to their credit.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The final period found the Saltillo Lions scoring 14 more points and the Sulphur Bluff Bears adding 13 points to make the final score 58-34.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Saltillo Lions will be advancing from District 22-A into the play-off picture, with the opponent being Ector and time and date determined after scheduling is complete.

As of now, the Sulphur Bluff Bears are scheduled to compete against Roxton, on Monday, February 22nd, in Prairiland, with the time to be announced later.
