The Yantis Owls defeated the Sulphur Bluff Bears 60-40 in the first game
of the boy's division.
"Spirited" basketball was "on tap" all day Thursday, as basketball teams from all across Northeast Texas, made their way to the annual Saltillo Invitational Tournament. This is one of the first tournaments of the year and allows coaches and players to match their opening season skills against other teams that they will be competing with throughout the season. And, Thursday's action was no disappointment for coaches, players, and fans.
The Como-Pickton Lady Eagles defeated the North Hopkins Lady Panthers, 30-20, to advance in the
winner's bracket.
"We had some tough basketball competition, all day," allowed organizers from the host Saltillo School. "The action on Friday and Saturday promises to be even better, as we advance in the brackets toward Saturday night's Championship games.

Results in Thursday's action are as follows:
Boy's Division:
Yantis 60 over Sulphur Bluff 40
Avery over Roxton
North Hopkins 58 over Como-Pickton 37
Saltillo 66 over CHESS 51
The North Hopkins Panthers defeated the Como-Pickton Eagles, to
advance in the winner's bracket of the Saltillo Tournament.
Girl's Division
Rivercrest 59 over Sulphur Bluff 32
Roxton over Avery
Como-Pickton 30 over North Hopkins 20
Saltillo 58 over Yantis 29
Action in the Losers Bracket was to begin on Friday morning, with the winner's bracket begining competition on Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
The Championship games are scheduled for Saturday night at 6:00 for the Girl's Game and 7:30 p.m. for the Boy's Game.
The Saltillo Lady Lions defeated the Yantis Lady Owls, 58-29, to advance in
the winner's bracket of their host tournament.
