Rotary Club Receives Visit From
Governor and Assistant Governor, Thursday

From Brittany Wilson

On Thursday, November 4th, the Sulphur Springs Rotarians met at the First United Methodist Church for lunch and their regular weekly meeting.  Rotary International District Assistant Governor, Larry Cannaday, attended the meeting and brought past District Governor, Bill Rains, to discuss ways to become more involved in global projects.

Bill Rains discussed the history of Rotary in Hopkins County revealing the number of members in international leadership and scholarship recipients supported by our local chapter.  The club also discussed many ways to characterize its "Service Above Self" motto including the international strikes against polio (one of Rotary's biggest projects), support for West African flood victims, and strategies for providing clean drinking water to the world's poverty stricken nations.

Rotary Club of Sulphur Springs has given more than $180,000 to the Foundation since its inception in support of these causes.  Bill challenged all members to find a way to embrace them first hand.

The Sulphur Springs Rotary Club meets at noon on Thursday's and invites anyone to visit, who is interested in becoming a member.
