If you've ever been a member of the Leadership Sulphur Springs Class, you remember your "Ropes Challenge." Well, members of this year's class attended their Ropes Course on Friday, October 1st and Saturday, October 2nd, at a new course offered in Commerce, at Texas A&M University-Commerce. "It was certainly a challenging course and united our group of participants, this year," advised Program Coordinator, Lynda Hager.  "Everyone had a great time and 'pushed their limits' to learn their strengths and weaknesses, and that's the purpose of the course!"

"I definitely 'got out of my comfort zone' when we started climbing high in the air!" expressed one this year's participants. "Yes, you've got a safety harness on, but it's still really high in the air!"

"You learn about your limits and how to admit and share your weaknesses with others, throughout the exercises, that leads you toward the final challenge of the 'pamper pole,'" continued Hager. "It doesn't matter if you are able to 'zip through the air,' it's that you pushed your limits and learned to accept new challenges!"

Throughout the year, the Leadership Sulphur Springs Class of 2010-11 will be meeting monthly, and learning about the various facets of life in Hopkins County, from county and city government, to industry, tourism, law enforcement, and community services. Then, in May the group will travel to Austin, Texas, for their graduation and a session on State Government, when they will tour the State Capitol Building and other points of interest.

"I'm having a 'blast' working with all of the other participants and being a part of this class," advised Meredith Caddell, who chose to go through the course, this year, with this class. "It's a great experience and builds friendships and bonds with those all across the community!"
