Roberts Brothers...Matthew & Mark,
Donate Books to ER Waiting Area
by: Bobby McDonald
"We use the Hopkins County Memorial Hospital Emergency Room quite often!" exclaimed Jennifer Roberts, as she and her sons, Matthew and Mark, entered the doors of the department, on Wednesday morning. "It seems like we are regular visitors to the area, and we saw a need to be fulfilled and I asked the boys if this was something they would like to do, and they accepted the challenge!"
Matthew and Mark Roberts donated thirty-four children's books to the Emergency Room Waiting Area, on Wednesday, so that those who are waiting with loved ones in the area will have something to occupy their times. "These are our favorite books and some that we've already read!" exclaimed Mark Roberts.
"I can tell you everything about this one!" exclaimed Matthew, as he thumbed through one that he particularly liked!

The Roberts family also took time to enjoy the playground in the Children's Therapy
Gardens, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.
Jennifer, a reading teacher in the Sulphur Springs ISD, knows the importance of teaching children to read and felt that the donation could have lasting benefits in the community. "Many, many times children are left waiting in the area, when a sibling is being treated or possibly an adult member of their family is in need of care," explained Jennifer. "Thus, what could be a better time to introduce them to reading and relieve some of the stress of the situation for the waiting child?"
"Matthew and Mark had already read the books and they were in perfectly good condition, so this was the perfect place to take them," continued Jennifer. "I try to teach the boys to live my motto Bible verse, I Corinthians 10:24, 'Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others.'"
"This was a great way to teach the boys about giving of themselves to others, and hopefully it will benefit the children of Hopkins County, as they are placed in a stressful situation!" stated Jennifer. "A good book can sometimes be a 'life-line' for any of us, and hopefully these will comfort those seeking a solace!"

The Craig and Jennifer Roberts Family are serving as chairs of the 2010
Lights of Life Gala and invite all of their friends and neighbors to join
them in providing some of the "extras" for the Hopkins County Memorial
Hospital, through donations to the Foundation.
