Hopkins County Judge Presented
"Texas Roadhand" Award

It was a "surprise" trip to the Hopkins County Courthouse, on Friday morning, for County Judge Cletis Millsap, when he thought he was being called in for a work session. However, County Commissioners had called the meeting as "a ruse" to get him there for an award presentation. Millsap was presented with the "Texas Roadhand Award" by Texas Executive TxDOT Director, Amadeo Saenz. In presenting the award, Saenz praised Millsap's "unending devotion to improving highways and transportation in Northeast Texas." "To name just a few of the projects that he has helped bring to Northeast Texas, and make him deserving of this award, are the State Highway 11 and State Highway 154 projects, the Intermodal Facility, and the Sulphur River Mobility Authority," exclaimed Saenz. "He has worked tirelessly to promote transportation improvement throughout the region!"

In accepting the award, Millsap praised the working relationships he has with the Hopkins County Commissioner's Court, the TxDOT officials in local, regional, and state offices. "I certainly couldn't have accomplished any of these projects without the help and support of all those people who come together to get these things accomplished," stated Millsap. "And, I want to thank all of them for their efforts in making these projects happen for the people of Northeast Texas!"

Millsap's name will be added to the elite list of people across the state of Texas, who have been chosen to receive the "Texas Roadhand Award," and was presented with a framed award for his tireless efforts, on behalf of the citizens of Northeast Texas.

 

Local city and county officials were on hand to witness the Friday morning presentation.
