Ranch Rodeo To Be Feature at
Hopkins County Civic Center,
Saturday, April 11th

Saturday, April 11th is one day set aside to celebrate the cowboy way of life as these cowboys saddle up to help children in Northeast Texas. The Texas Heritage Association is proud to present the Sulphur Springs Ranch Rodeo.  Come see real cowboys show off their horsemanship and ground working skills in competition like wild cow milking, mugging, cattle sorting, team branding and bronc riding. Ten teams of four cowboys each will vie for bragging rights. This year the contestants all hale from the great state of Texas.

 

Help some ranch hands cowboy right by supporting the 5th Annual Sulphur Springs Ranch Rodeo which benefits Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Northeast Texas and Feedlot Ministries, Inc. Proudly brought to you in part by Go Texan a new initiative from the Texas Department of Agriculture to spotlight rural Texas and promote rural Texas tourism.

 

Make-A-Wish Foundation grants wishes to children between that ages of 2 ½ and 18 who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition to enhance the human experience with hope, strength and joy.  The Northeast Regional Office grants wishes to children in 30 counties in Northeast Texas.   A current wish in Hopkins County is Raylee Box, a 10 year old North Hopkins resident. Raylee was recently diagnosed with Leukemia AML and is currently being treated with great results.

 

Feedlot Ministries, Inc. is an outreach program that provides assistance to rural families in Northeast Texas. The organization raises funds fund and supply rural families with fresh food when disastrous or unpredictable events occur.

 


These beautiful handmade spurs will be awarded to the top cowboy in Saturday's Ranch Rodeo.

 

 

This event showcases necessary skills and know-how of ranch hands as practiced on ranches today. Like regular ranch work, the ranch rodeo emphasizes all-around skills and teamwork. Ranch Rodeo features events that at simulate real ranch work. This format of rodeo is action packed and wildly entertaining. The American Cowboy still lives and breaths right here in east Texas.  These cowboys are the real deal, earning their living from the back of a horse, tending to livestock over all kinds of terrain in all kinds of weather. A Cowboy Trade show displaying for sale all types of western related products also opens at 12 pm on the Civic Center grounds. At 5:30 pm there will be a Chuckwagon supper served to the public for $10 per plate. The menu is typical cowboy fare of chicken fried steak, beans, potatoes, bread, and peach cobbler.

 

The rodeo performance is at 7:30 pm in the arena.
