Hopkins County Quilt Trail
Gets New Addition, This Week

Reprint from "The Millennium Shopper"

A new quilt block has been added, this week, to the Hopkins County Quilt Trail, which is spreading throughout Hopkins County. The quilt block is the "Hearts In My Cabin" design and was painted by the advanced art department at Como-Pickton School, under the direction of Jackie Martin and commissioned by Weldon and Kay Faulks.

Gary Spraggins, mayor of Sulphur Springs and owner of Dairyland Automation, oversaw the installation of the quilt block on the east side of the Ramey Building in downtown Sulphur Springs, which houses Joel Sheffield Attorney and The Millennium Shopper, at 115 Jefferson Street. Members of the crew included: Mitchell Pretrea and Mike Cleveland.

Anyone wishing to have a quilt block placed on their barn or building, should contact Billie Ruth Standbridge at (903)439-0862. Standbridge and Deanna Hasten are the creators of this project of community interest, designed to entice tourism by bringing people off the interstate to discover the back roads of our community.  They are members of the Lone Star Quilt Guild and they will be celebrating their 10th year anniversary as part of the Hopkins County Fall Festival, this year. The Quilt show will be featured on September 18th and 19th and have a wide spectrum of quilts on display.

Mark your calendar for this year's event.
